Function and location
Control unit or relay for interval, wipe and wash operation of the front wiper on vehicles without rain sensor. Headlight cleaning is only switched by the successor version E (relay 603).
Installation location: Audi A6 C5: relay J31 in the relay carrier of the central electrics behind the storage compartment on the driver's side (positions 5 and 6). Passat B5: relay carrier of the central electrics, position 5 (relay 389).
How can you tell that a wipe/wash interval relay is defective?
- Headlight cleaning not working when relay 389 is installed instead of relay 603 (Passat 3BG with xenon)
