Function and location
Control unit or relay for the wipe/wash interval function of the front wiper. The E version (relay 603) additionally switches the headlight cleaning system (SRA). For vehicles without rain sensor.
Installation location: Audi A6 C5: relay J31 in the relay carrier of the central electrics behind the storage compartment on the driver's side (positions 5 and 6). Passat B5: relay carrier of the central electrics.
How can you tell a relay is faulty?
- Headlight cleaning not working when relay 389 is installed instead of relay 603 (Passat 3BG with xenon)

- Separate SRA relay: Not the separate relay 8L0 955 535 (relay 380) for the headlight cleaning system.
