Function and location
This dual water valve (heater control valve) is part of the automatic climate control. Two electrically controlled Bosch solenoid valves inside it regulate the coolant flow to the heater's heat exchanger.
The valve is installed in the engine bay, on the bulkhead.
How can you tell if a heater valve is faulty?
- The heater can no longer be regulated properly – stays cold or heats continuously
- Interior temperature no longer responds to the automatic climate control, or fluctuates uncontrollably
- Valve noticeably sticks in one position (jams open or closed)
- Coolant loss or visible leak directly at the valve
