Vehicle system and function
After the engine is switched off, the fuel accumulator keeps the pressure in the fuel system up for a while. This makes restarting easier, especially with a hot engine. It also dampens the noise of the electric fuel pump; on the KE-Jetronic it is sized larger than on the K-Jetronic.
Installation location: In the fuel delivery line at the rear underbody, in the area of the fuel pump and filter. The supply is via a banjo bolt with copper sealing rings; the small nipple on the bottom leads back to the tank line by hose.
Condition: Used genuine Bosch part, inspected and tested. Price is per piece.
How to recognize a defective part
- ● Poor hot starting, long cranking after a short shutdown
- ● Residual pressure is not held, the engine starts poorly
- ● Fuel leaks from the small nipple on the spring chamber side (diaphragm leaking)

Important distinction – please check before buying
⚠ Not A 000 476 05 21 / 06 21 (Bosch 0 438 170 035)
The 2-valve engines M102 and M103 need the smaller accumulator 035. Most common mix-up: 300 SL (12V) needs 035, 300 SL-24 needs 055 – likewise 300 E (M103) with 035, 300 E-24 with 055.
⚠ Not A 000 476 04 21 (Bosch 0 438 170 017)
K-Jetronic accumulator for W116, W123 280 E / CE, R107 380 / 450 SL as well as W126 380 and early 500s until 1985.
⚠ Early 500 SL and 500 SE / SEL / SEC
R107 500 SL until 02/1984 and W126 500 until 08/1984 have K-Jetronic and need accumulator 017 – please check the model year or VIN (chassis number).
⚠ Does not fit:
- Mercedes with 4-cylinder M102 and 6-cylinder M103 (2-valve)
- W126 380 SE / SEL / SEC (K-Jetronic)
- R129 300 SL with 12-valve engine
