Condition of this part
New part (NOS – New Old Stock), unused, in the original Bosch box. Plastic high-gloss with no abrasion, brass centre contact and arm contact free of spark erosion, no rust, Bosch embossing sharp. The box is browned with age and secured with tape.
Function and location
The distributor rotor sits on the distributor shaft and distributes the high-voltage pulse from the ignition coil, via the centre contact of the distributor cap, in turn to the individual spark plug outputs. A built-in 5 kOhm suppressor resistor damps radio interference and suppresses disturbances to radios and electronics.
It is installed in the distributor under the distributor cap, pushed onto the end of the distributor shaft with a keyway to prevent rotation – in the engine bay at the cylinder head or engine block.
