Bosch warm-up regulator, part number 0438140004, for K-Jetronic naturally aspirated engines without a turbocharger, including in the Lamborghini Countach, BMW 3 Series E30 318i, Peugeot 205 1.8 Turbo, and various Volvo model series (140, 240, 260, 740, 940). How can you tell a warm-up regulator is faulty?
The warm-up regulator is part of the Bosch K-Jetronic injection system and works as a control-pressure regulator (warm-up regulator): when the engine is cold, it lowers the control pressure and thereby enriches the mixture during the warm-up phase. An electric heater adapts the regulation to the engine warming up.
If the regulator is faulty, the mixture is no longer correctly enriched during the cold-start and warm-up phase. This can show up as rough engine running or problems when starting cold.
