How can you tell a warm-up regulator is faulty?

The warm-up regulator sits in the fuel circuit of the Bosch K-Jetronic between the fuel distributor and the control pressure line and is bolted to the engine block. It regulates the control pressure depending on engine temperature, ensuring correct mixture enrichment during cold running.

The control pressure is lowered via a heated bimetallic element, which raises the control pressure again as operating temperature increases. If this element or the heating coil is defective, the control pressure is no longer regulated correctly during cold running and the mixture enrichment is incorrect.
