NOS/OVP in original box · Unused with factory preservation · 2nd repair stage 0.50 mm undersize
Condition of this part
NOS/OVP from old dealer stock in the original red Glyco box (manufactured before 1990), label H 581/4 0.50. Includes three pairs of bearings (6 half-shells) in the original sealed Glyco oil-paper sleeves; one packet was opened for the product photos. The shells are unused with factory preservation, the running surfaces show no signs of installation. The box is rubbed and knocked at the edges. The thrust bearing is not included. Sold untested.
Function and location
The main bearing shells are the plain bearings on which the crankshaft runs in the engine block – two half-shells form each bearing point. They absorb combustion and inertial forces and, via the oil groove and oil bore, build up the load-bearing lubricating film. The 0.50 mm undersize corresponds to a crankshaft ground to 59.50 mm (standard size 60.00 mm) – the 2nd repair stage after a crankshaft grind.
Installation location: The shells sit in the main bearing bore of the crankcase: the grooved, drilled shell at the top in the block above the oil feed, the smooth shell in the main bearing cap. Installation is only possible with the engine disassembled.
