Glyco thrust bearing (crankshaft flanged/guide bearing) 72-2058 in 0.50 mm undersize, NOS/OVP, for the Mercedes-Benz engines M180 and M127.
NOS – unused in original Glyco box · Made in Germany · completes the full main bearing set Glyco H 581/4
Condition of this part
NOS/OVP – unused new Glyco part (Made in Germany) in the original red Glyco box with printed inner wrap (72-2058, 0.50 mm). The box is faded, the edges are knocked, the tape is yellowed, plus a handwritten pencil note; the inner wrap shows signs of opening. Both bearing shells are factory-new: the running surfaces are bright and free of scoring, with yellowish preservation residue on the steel backs and flange faces due to storage. The part is sold untested.
Function and location
The thrust bearing (flanged or guide bearing) forms one of the crankshaft main bearing points. In addition to radial support, its lateral thrust flanges absorb axial forces and locate the crankshaft in the longitudinal direction, for example when engaging the clutch. The upper shell carries the oil groove and oil bore.
Installation location: at the main bearing point of the crankcase with flange reliefs – the upper shell (with oil bore) sits in the block, the lower shell in the main bearing cap. Installation is only possible with the engine disassembled, by qualified personnel.
How can you tell a worn thrust bearing?
- Noticeably increased crankshaft end float (axial play)
- The crankshaft "wanders" in the longitudinal direction, noticeable among other things when engaging the clutch
