New old stock (NOS – New Old Stock), unused in the original Hella box. One license plate light is sold; the box print “2 STK.” refers to the original Hella packaging unit, not the contents of this listing – the product photos are decisive. Housing and light lens are undamaged, contacts bare, no installation or weathering marks. A bulb is not included in the scope of delivery.
Function and location
The license plate light illuminates the rear license plate per ECE requirement. The black plastic housing is bolted above or to the side of the license plate; the clear light lens spreads the light flat onto the plate without dazzling traffic behind.
Installation location: at the rear, above or to the left or right of the license plate, bolted on.
How can you tell that a license plate light is faulty?
- The license plate is no longer illuminated in the dark, or only faintly
- The lighting no longer meets the ECE requirement and can be flagged at the periodic inspection
- The light beam dazzles rearward instead of spreading flat onto the license plate – a sign of a damaged or misseated light lens
