New part, unused in original box · OEM quality from Hella · Broad coverage: Astra, Corsa, Vectra, Zafira, Saab 9-3 II and others
Condition of this part
New part, unused in the original Hella box with “Made in Germany” print. Measuring tube and sensor element flawless, no dust and no intake marks, connector contacts bare, clips undamaged. OEM quality from Hella, not a no-name aftermarket part.
Function and location
The mass air flow sensor measures the air mass supplied to the engine using the hot-film principle: a heated sensor element in the measuring channel is cooled by the intake airflow, and the required heating current is a direct measure of the air mass flow. The control unit uses this to calculate injection quantity and ignition timing. The sensor is 4-pin and weighs approx. 0.13 kg.
It is installed between the air filter housing and the intake hose in the intake tract, fitted into the cylindrical measuring tube with a 70 mm connection diameter (pipe stub) and secured with two clips.
How can you tell that a mass air flow sensor is faulty?
- Noticeable loss of power
- Engine jerking
- Increased fuel consumption
- Engine goes into limp mode
