Function and location
The oil pump chain drives the oil pump from the crankshaft. It transmits power positively so that oil pressure builds up in sync with engine speed. It should be renewed together with the timing chain, and whenever the oil pump drive rattles.
Fitted at the front bottom of the engine behind the front cover, between the crankshaft and oil pump sprockets – not to be confused with the upper camshaft drive.
