Condition of this part
NOS/OVP – unused new stock in the original Sanico box, manufactured by Cofap. The box shows signs of storage: knocked edges, yellowed label, darkened instruction leaflet. The rings themselves are unfitted: coating intact, chrome running surfaces bright without scoring, end gaps clean, no rust. Individual rings were removed from the bags for the product photos. The goods are sold untested.
Function and location
Piston rings seal the combustion chamber against the cylinder wall, conduct piston heat into the bore and meter the oil film. The set contains, per cylinder, two compression rings (1.5 mm each – the top one chrome-plated, the second a taper-faced ring) and a three-piece oil control ring (4.0 mm: two chrome rails plus an expander).
The rings sit in the three ring grooves of each piston: 1st compression ring, 2nd compression ring, oil control ring. Installation is carried out with the engine disassembled using a piston ring compressor and should be performed by qualified personnel. The set is complete for a 4-cylinder engine, standard size 86.00 mm bore.
