New old stock (NOS) part, unused in the original Kolbenschmidt packaging. The box shows storage marks; the rings themselves are uninstalled.
Function and location
Piston rings seal the combustion chamber against the crankcase, conduct piston heat into the cylinder wall, and regulate the oil film on the bore. Per cylinder, the set consists of a compression ring, a second compression ring, and an oil control ring with expander spring. This box contains rings for four cylinders in the standard size 84.00 mm.
The rings are fitted in the ring grooves of the pistons in the cylinder block. Installation takes place with the engine disassembled, as part of an engine overhaul or a piston replacement.
Compatible vehicles
Application per label: BMW four-cylinder engines with 84.00 mm bore. These include the M40 B16 and M40 B18, M42 B18, M43 B16 and M43 B18 series, as well as the classic M10 with 1573 and 1773cc.
Kolbenschmidt part number of this set: 150 011 329, per label Ø 84.00 mm in standard size, designed for four cylinders. The box contains two complete ring sets, i.e. rings for a total of two times four cylinders; the box is sold with both sets together.
⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying
Bore and ring thicknesses are decisive. Several ring packages exist for 84.00 mm BMW engines – including 1.5 + 1.75 + 3.0 mm, 1.5 + 1.5 + 2.0 mm and 1.75 + 2.0 + 4.0 mm. Please measure the rings of your engine and compare them with the product photos before buying.
Does not fit:
- M10 B18 (1766cc) and M10 B20 (1990cc) – these engines have an 89.00 mm bore
- M43 B19 and M44 B19 in the 318is, 318ti and Z3 1.9 – 85.00 mm bore
- Six-cylinder M20 B25, M50 B25 and M52 B25 – also 84,00 mm bore, but six cylinders instead of four
- Blocks bored to oversize – this set is in standard size

How many engines does the scope of delivery cover?
One ring set is enough for a complete four-cylinder engine. The box contains two complete sets, so it covers two engines or provides a spare set. For further scope of delivery, see the product photos.
Are the rings already used?
No. These are new old stock (NOS) parts; the rings themselves have never been fitted. Only the box shows age-related storage marks.
Does this set also fit the BMW M10?
Only for the versions with 1573 cm³ or 1773 cm³ and 84,00 mm bore. For the M10 B18 (1766 cm³) and M10 B20 (1990 cm³) the bore is 89,00 mm – this set does not fit those.
