NOS stock from the original box: the shells themselves are unused and show no signs of running. The box shows age-related signs of storage.
Function and location
Crankshaft main bearing shells in standard size (STD). They sit as plain bearings between the crankshaft journal and the crankcase, absorb the combustion and inertial forces and maintain the lubrication clearance via the oil film.
They are fitted in the crankcase and in the main bearing cap, one upper and one lower half-shell per bearing point.
Compatible vehicles
Land Rover Series II, Series IIA and Series III with the 2.25-liter four-cylinder engine, gasoline and diesel, each with a 3-bearing crankshaft.
The part number of this bearing set is RTC1729 (standard size STD). For distinction: for the 5-bearing crankshaft, the number RTC2626 applies, for the 2.5-liter engine RTC2992, and for the V8 engine RTC1718; the connecting rod bearings are a separate part under the number RTC1730 and are not included in this set.
