Condition of this part
New old stock (NOS – New Old Stock), unused in the original Mazda factory bag with 1998 storage tag. The metal can is glossy galvanized and free of corrosion, the connecting wire and rubber grommet show no age cracks, the connector housing is undamaged.
Function and location
The ignition condenser lies parallel to the breaker contact in the distributor of classic contact ignition systems. It suppresses the arc when the contacts open, thereby protecting them from burning and premature wear, and ensures a clean, precisely timed ignition spark.
It is installed in or on the distributor housing, usually bolted to the breaker base plate, with the ground tab on the distributor.
