Function and location

The radial shaft seal seals the grease-lubricated front wheel hub against the steering knuckle side. It retains the wheel bearing grease inside the hub and keeps out water, road salt and dirt; an additional dust lip protects the main sealing lip.

Installation location: on the inside of the front wheel hub, behind the inner tapered roller bearing, on the steering knuckle stub. Two pieces are needed per vehicle, left and right.

How can you tell if the wheel hub seal ring is faulty?

Traces of grease on the brake disc or wheel on the front axle
Water or dirt entering the inside of the hub due to sealing lips that have become brittle
Wheel bearing damage as a result of insufficient lubrication
