Condition of this part
Tested and fully functional. The housing and front panel show light signs of use, all buttons and the rotary knob are present. The original Mercedes-Benz radio code card is included – the radio can be unlocked directly after installation with it.
Function and location
Factory radio of the Becker Special series: 1-DIN unit with FM, MW and LW tuner, RDS and auto-reverse cassette deck with Dolby B noise reduction, six station preset buttons and an amplifier with 4×25 W. The CC·CD button switches between the cassette and an externally connected CD changer; the unit does not have its own CD drive.
The installation location is the 1-DIN radio slot in the center console.
How can you tell a defective car radio?
- No reception, or disrupted reception, on FM, MW or LW
- RDS functions stay off
- Cassette no longer loads or ejects, sound is warbling or distorted (Dolby B fault)
- Switching to the CD changer via the CC·CD button no longer works
- No sound, or distorted sound, from the speakers (amplifier)

⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying
The original radio code card is included. After every power disconnection, the unit asks for the code; entry is via the station preset buttons, and after the last correct digit the radio unlocks automatically – an additional paid code service is therefore not necessary.
Suitable only for vehicles without a multifunction steering wheel and without a radio display in the instrument cluster.
For a CD changer, the analogue 10-pin changers MC3196 / MC3296 (A 002 820 62 89 / A 002 820 59 89) fit; fibre-optic changers (D2B/MOST) do not work.
In a Mercedes with the original wiring harness, the radio is plug-and-play; for installation in a different make of vehicle, an ISO adapter and, if applicable, an antenna adapter are needed.
Does not fit:
- Vehicles with COMAND or a MOST bus system
- Vehicles with a double-DIN slot (W203, W211)
- CD changer MC3330 and other fibre-optic changers
