Used fuel accumulator for the K-Jetronic fuel system of numerous Mercedes model series (including W116, R107/C107, W123, W126) – Mercedes-Benz no. A0004760421, Bosch no. 0438170017.

Used part – tested for leaks and function · Thread clean · Includes copper sealing rings on both connections

Condition of this part

Used genuine part, cleaned and tested for leaks and function. The aluminum housing shows slight oxidation or a light patina, but no dents or damage. Copper sealing rings are present on both connections, and the thread is clean.

Function and location

After the engine is switched off, the fuel accumulator maintains fuel pressure in the K-Jetronic system for hours (residual pressure). This keeps the line free of vapor bubbles, so a warm engine starts without prolonged cranking. The spring-loaded diaphragm also dampens the pressure pulsations from the fuel pump.

Installation location: Underbody, at the fuel delivery unit near the tank, directly behind the fuel pump and ahead of the fuel filter; banjo bolt connection with a copper sealing ring, bent connecting pipe to the filter.

How can you tell a fuel accumulator is defective?

  • Warm-start problems: the engine cranks for a long time before starting when warm
  • Fuel pressure drops too quickly after switching off the engine
  • Vapor bubble formation in the fuel line under heat
  • Jerking or rough running due to undamped pressure pulsations from the fuel pump

Part numbers: Mercedes-Benz A0004760421, Bosch 0438170017. The accumulator belongs to a number family with similar suffix numbers for other fuel systems and models – see the note below for how to tell them apart.

⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying

The exact suffix number is decisive. This part does NOT fit KE-Jetronic (there A 000 476 06 21 – among others on the 300 SL R107, W124, 260/300 SE W126, W201), does NOT replace A 000 476 09 21 (M12x1.5 connection), does NOT fit 560 models (A 000 476 10 21), and does NOT replace the early accumulator A 000 476 01 21 / Bosch 0 438 170 004 (early 450 models up to the chassis number stated). Be careful with universal aftermarket parts: genuine variants differ in system and residual pressure.

Does not fit:

  • KE-Jetronic vehicles and systems
  • 560 models (separate suffix number A 000 476 10 21)
  • Vehicles with M12x1.5 threaded connection
  • Universal aftermarket parts with different pressure ranges

FAQ

What's included in the scope of delivery?

Included is the fuel accumulator with copper sealing rings fitted on both connections. The exact scope of delivery can also be seen in the product photos.

Why is the exact suffix number so important for this fuel accumulator?

Externally similar fuel accumulators are also fitted for KE-Jetronic, for 560 models, or with a different M12x1.5 threaded connection – these variants differ in system and residual pressure. Please compare the part number before ordering.

Can I replace the fuel accumulator myself?

The replacement is done on the pressurized fuel system and requires basic knowledge. If in doubt, we recommend having it installed by a professional.
