Function and location
Fuel accumulator for the Bosch KE-Jetronic injection system. After the engine is switched off, it maintains pressure in the fuel system and prevents vapor-bubble formation – preventing hot-start problems.
The fuel accumulator is located in the fuel pump assembly on the underbody, next to the fuel pump and fuel filter.
How can you tell a fuel accumulator is defective?
- The engine starts poorly or not at all when hot (hot-start problem)
- Fuel pressure drops too quickly after the engine is switched off
- Vapor bubbles form in the fuel system
