Function and location
The series resistor is part of the interior blower control (blower regulator). Several wire resistors limit the current to the blower motor, allowing the individual blower speeds to be set.
The installation location is in the heater/air box, directly in the airflow of the blower.
How can you tell if a blower resistor is faulty?
- The blower only runs on a single speed, usually the highest
- Individual blower speeds can no longer be selected
- The blower switches off unexpectedly or jumps between speeds
- The blower no longer works at all
