Condition of this part
New old stock (NOS), unused in the original febi-bilstein box. The damper is as new, the ball sockets are bright, no rust, the component print is fully legible (manufacturing code KW 50/2002). The box itself shows storage marks: creased edges, a slightly soiled label and a handwritten storage note. As no test bench is available, the part is sold untested. The box contains two pieces, both are part of this listing.
Function and location
The closing damper slows the return movement of the control linkage on the diesel injection pump when the driver lifts off the accelerator. Instead of snapping hard into the idle position, the control lever glides back in a damped motion.
Installation location: in the engine bay directly on the inline injection pump, clipped in with both ball sockets between the pump's control lever and a bracket on the pump or engine mount. Replacement is possible without removing the pump.

The febi number is decisive. This part is 08429 and replaces Mercedes number 603 070 03 67. The similar febi 07844 is the linkage damper for the older model series from 1976 to 1985 and does not fit. Please compare the number and installed length of your old damper 1:1.
