Main bearing shells (crankshaft main bearings) from Kolbenschmidt, part number 87955620, in 0.50 mm undersize for engines M108 and M129.

Genuine Kolbenschmidt (KS) · NOS – unused in the original box · 0.50 mm undersize, 2nd repair stage

Condition of this part

New goods (NOS) in the original Kolbenschmidt box, unused and without running marks on the sliding surfaces. The steel backing shows slight marks from the preservative, the box corners are slightly knocked.

Function and location

The main bearing shells are the plain bearings in which the crankshaft runs in the crankcase. They absorb combustion and inertia forces and separate the shaft and housing with an oil film; the shells with an oil hole pass pressurised oil from the main oil gallery to the bearing journal and on to the connecting rod bearings.

The shells sit between the crankshaft main bearing journals and the crankcase or bearing cap, at the seven main bearing positions of the inline six-cylinder.

Compatible vehicles

According to the original packaging, this bearing set is intended for the engine type M108/M114 up to model year 12/1967; the part description additionally names the M129 as well as the model series W108, W111 and W113 (among others 250 SE and SL/Pagoda). In every case, the actual journal size of your own crankshaft is what matters – see the warning note below.

Part numbers: Kolbenschmidt (KS) 87955620, catalogue number H 705/7. The set consists of 3 shells with an oil hole (85 130 620) and 3 shells without an oil hole (85 131 620) – 6 shells in total in 0.50 mm undersize, journal diameter 59.50 mm (second repair stage).

⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying

This set is not complete: a complete main bearing set consists of 14 shells for seven bearing positions; 6 shells for 3 bearing positions are offered here. The size grade is also decisive – these shells fit exclusively on a crankshaft already ground to 59.50 mm. Please measure the journal size of your own crankshaft before buying.

Does not fit:

  • Crankshafts with standard size 60.00 mm
  • Repair stages 59.75 mm, 59.25 mm and 59.00 mm
  • Connecting rod bearings
  • Engines from 1/1968
  • Engines M130 (2.8 litres), M110, M180 and M127
