Genuine Mercedes-Benz part from stock in the original bag, supplier NTN. The bearing is unused; no pitting or rust spots are visible on the raceways – the brownish traces on the rollers and cage are preservation grease. The bag is creased, the label fully legible.
Function and location
The tapered roller bearing guides the front wheel hub on the steering knuckle. It simultaneously carries the wheel load and the lateral forces from cornering, and is set to defined play via the axle nut during installation. It consists of two parts: the cone with roller cage (LM48548) and the race pressed into the hub (LM48510) – both are a matched set and are always replaced together.
Installation location: front axle, inner large wheel bearing in the wheel hub, behind the shaft seal toward the brake disc.

It consists of the cone with roller cage LM48548 and the race LM48510, listed by supplier NTN as 4T-LM48548 and 4T-LM48510 (marked JAPAN). Dimensions: bore 34.925 mm (1.375 in), outer diameter 65.088 mm (2.5625 in), overall width 18.034 mm.

For vehicles with ABS only: The Mercedes parts catalog explicitly notes for A 001 980 29 02 that the bearing is used only in conjunction with the anti-lock braking system. Vehicles without ABS have a different inner bearing. Please check which version your vehicle has using your vehicle identification number or the removed old part.
