Condition of this part
Genuine Mercedes-Benz part from stock, in the original bag, manufactured in France, date stamp 17.11.03. The part is unused, but shows slight discoloration (temper colors) on the spray tube and at the soldered joint. The label is yellowed, the bag has already been opened.
Function and location
The oil jet sprays engine oil from the main oil gallery upward against the underside of the piston crown. This cools the thermally highly stressed piston and at the same time supplies oil to the piston pin and cylinder bore. The stepped cylindrical body is the holder with the central bore; the bent tube soldered on the side is the actual spray tube.
The jet sits in the crankcase below the cylinder bores and is fitted into the main oil gallery; the spray tube points upward toward the underside of the piston.

Does the oil jet also fit OM605 or OM646/OM647?
No. For the OM605, the applicable number is A 605 180 00 43; for OM646 and OM647 in the successor version, A 646 180 01 43. Our number A 604 180 01 43 fits exclusively the vehicles listed above.
Does the oil jet need to be installed by a professional?
Installation is at the main oil gallery in the crankcase, usually as part of an engine overhaul, and should be carried out by specialist personnel.
