New part (NOS – New Old Stock), unused in the original Mercedes-Benz parts box with factory label. Housing rust-free and never installed, foam seal complete, threaded stud bright zinc-plated, cable coiled with no kinks, connector contacts unoxidised.
Function and location
This housing belongs to the reverse light of the W123 T-model. On the estate, the reverse light is not located in the tail light but as a separate light unit in the rear bumper. The black plastic housing carries the socket, the factory-moulded wiring harness with grommet, and the 3-pin original Mercedes connector with Kostal marking. It is bolted in place via an M6 threaded stud, and the lens is fitted with two screws onto the surrounding foam seal.
The installation location is at the rear, in or under the rear bumper of the S123, on the mounting bracket A1238851014. The cable runs through the sheet metal via grommet A1239972887. On the Euro version, the rear fog light is on the opposite side.
How can you tell the reverse light is faulty?
- Reverse light does not come on, or only intermittently, when reverse gear is engaged
- Visible rust or cracks on the plastic housing
- Foam seal porous or leaking, moisture inside the light housing
- Connector contacts oxidised or cable damaged at the housing

The mounting bracket for attaching it to the rear bumper carries number A1238851014, and the cable grommet in the sheet metal number A1239972887. The separately available lens carries number A1238263490 or ULO 3008315.
