Function and location
The instrument cluster displays speed as well as total and trip mileage; the speedometer is driven mechanically via the speedometer cable from the transmission output. The same housing also holds the combination gauge for fuel level, coolant temperature and oil pressure, the tachometer with integrated clock, and the warning light panel. The displays are backlit and can be adjusted via the instrument dimmer.
Installation location: In the dashboard directly in front of the driver, inserted from the front into the instrument carrier. Connected via the speedometer cable at the transmission output and the connector strips on the back.

What matters is the speedometer ratio, which depends on the rear axle ratio and tires, not on engine size – the factory sticker showing the speedometer ratio is no longer legible on this unit. Please compare the part number of your old instrument with the one stated above before purchase. The scale must also match 200 km/h.

- W124 and S124 with 2.0-liter diesel (200 D, 200 TD) – 180 km/h scale there
- W124 gasoline models – 220 or 240 km/h scale there
- Versions in miles (mph) for the US and UK market
- Instruments with an analog clock instead of the tachometer
- other model series such as W123, W126, W201 or W202

Professionally refurbished, tested and fully functional; the needles and lighting were renewed. Remnants of the original foam sealing tape still adhere to the top of the housing, and the lens shows light scratches in places – see product photos.
