Original febi-bilstein tensioner pulley / idler pulley (febi 02248, Mercedes no. A601 200 07 70) for the poly-V belt of the W124, R129 and W140 model series.

NOS – unused in the original box · 6-rib version with permanently lubricated ball bearing · Fits W124, R129 & W140

Condition of this part

New part (NOS – New Old Stock), unused in the original febi-bilstein box in the old red-and-white design, with original label and seal tape printed "West Germany". The rib profile is sharp-edged with no wear grooves or bright spots, the bearing clean, the seals undamaged and the casting flash untouched. There is only storage dust present; the box shows yellowing, crush marks and edge wear.

Function and location

The pulley guides and supports the poly-V belt, which is driven by the crankshaft to power the alternator, water pump, power steering pump and A/C compressor. It runs freely on a sealed, permanently lubricated deep-groove ball bearing in a plastic body and keeps the belt on track and under tension so it does not flutter, does not jump off and runs with constant preload. As a wear part, a rough- or dry-running bearing leads to grinding and whistling noises in the belt drive; in the final stage the pulley seizes and destroys the belt. Version with 6 ribs, running surface approx. 26 mm, bore approx. 8 mm.

The pulley sits at the front of the engine in the belt drive, bolted to the side of the engine block or to the tensioner arm, and runs with its ribbed side on the inside of the poly-V belt.

How can you tell the tensioner pulley is faulty?

  • Grinding or whistling noises in the belt drive that vary with engine speed
  • The poly-V belt runs unevenly, flutters or jumps off
  • In an advanced stage, the pulley seizes completely and damages or destroys the belt
