Function and location
A float slides on a center rod and taps a resistance wire. This produces the signal for the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. A separate contact closes when the float hits bottom and switches on the low-fuel warning light.
Installation location: On top of the tank behind the carpet trim in the trunk, secured with a large union nut.
