Function and location
A float slides on a center rod and taps a resistance wire. This produces the signal for the fuel gauge in the instrument cluster. A separate contact closes when the float hits bottom and switches on the low-fuel warning light. The VDO dip-tube sender has a gray head and pins marked “W” (warning contact) and “G” (sender).
Installation location: Installed from above in the fuel tank.
