Condition of this part
New old stock (NOS), unused in the original Mercedes box with works slip. The mast is chrome-plated and free of rust, the drive cable free of breaks. The box is heavily yellowed, soiled and knocked at the edges; the plastic drive cable shows age from storage and is slightly yellowed. The part is sold untested, as no test bench is available.
Function and location
The replacement mast is the extendable, multi-section chrome antenna rod of an electric power antenna. The slotted drive cable attached to it is engaged by the antenna motor via a pinion gear and extends the mast when the radio is switched on, retracting it again when switched off. If the drive cable breaks or the mast bends, only this part is replaced – the motor, gearbox and antenna base stay in the vehicle.
The mast is installed in the antenna tube of the electric antenna unit, usually in the rear side panel behind the wheel arch liner. To replace it, the antenna head is loosened, the old mast with cable is pulled out, and the new cable is threaded into the pinion while the motor is running.
How can you tell if the antenna mast is defective?
- The antenna no longer extends when the radio is switched on, or no longer retracts when switched off
- The antenna mast is visibly bent or deformed
- The antenna motor is audibly running, but the mast does not move (drive cable broken)

The antenna type is decisive. This mast fits exclusively into WISI power antennas of types AA80 to AA93 and AD50 to AD52. Hirschmann antennas use a toothed plastic rod instead of a slotted drive cable and are not compatible. Please read the type off your antenna unit and compare it with the list.
