Condition of this part
Used, without key. Function was tested at removal with the key available at the time – the cylinder turned smoothly, the mechanism engaged correctly. The key has since been lost. Details: see photos.
Function and location
Complete steering lock casting with lock cylinder, locking pin and round 7-pin ignition starter switch (terminals 30/15/50, P30 for the parking light). The locking pin locks the steering column when the key is removed.
The lock is installed on the steering column tube under the steering column trim and is fastened via the flange holes.
How can you tell an ignition lock is defective?
- Ignition starter switch doesn't reliably switch terminal 15 or 50, engine starts poorly or not at all
- Parking light via terminal P30 doesn't switch as intended
- Steering doesn't lock when the key is removed, or locks unexpectedly
- Key is hard to turn, cylinder doesn't noticeably engage

This lock carries the housing stamping of the 0160 family, as fitted in the W123/W126 era. The newer design of the W201/W124 generation, by contrast, is identified by the stamping 1900.01 and does not belong to this part.
⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying
Design and connector pattern are decisive. Several steering lock generations exist. This part belongs to the W123/W126 era (housing stamping 0160 family). Please compare the design, connector pattern and – if present – the part number of your old part 1:1 with the photos.

FAQ
How do I get a matching key if none is included?
Mercedes can cut a key from the lock number (dealership, proof of ownership required), specialist workshops can read the lock code directly from the cylinder, or you fit a new lock cylinder – matching blanks are freely available.
Does the lock match my vehicle's existing lock system (doors, trunk)?
No, the lock comes with its own keying and does not match the rest of your vehicle's lock system unless you have the cylinder re-keyed.
Can I also use the part as a parts donor?
Yes, it is also suitable as a parts donor for the housing, locking pin and ignition starter switch.
