Condition of this part
New part (NOS – New Old Stock), unused in the original Pierburg box. The cast flange and diaphragm housing show no installation or coking marks, the connector contacts are bright and the sealing face is undamaged. This is original-equipment stock from Pierburg (Rheinmetall), not an aftermarket copy.
Function and location
The EGR valve recirculates part of the exhaust gas back into the intake tract, thereby lowering the peak combustion temperature and nitrogen oxide emissions. The Pierburg version is electrically actuated at 12 V: the valve disc is lifted via a diaphragm/bellows unit, with actuation handled by the engine control unit through the plastic connector.
The valve is installed on the intake manifold, bolted on via a square flange with 3 screws; the connection to the EGR pipe attaches at the side. It is accessible from above in the engine bay.
