Vehicle system and function
Plug-in control relay of the VW seat heater. The seat heater switch activates it, and the relay then switches the heating current for the heating mats in the seat. A distinct click can be heard when switching on.
Installation location: Slot on the relay carrier of the central electrics. On the Golf II from 08/1987, a dedicated slot for relay 59 – seat heater is provided there.
Condition: Used genuine part, works. Minor scratches and normal signs of use on the housing. Marking VW/Audi 161 919 533, 12 V, Siemens 72SV100, Made in Austria, six flat terminals. 2 pcs with the same relay and part number are available, one unit is pictured – date stamp may differ. Price is per pc.
How to recognize a defective part
- ● Relay does not click even though the fuse is fine

- ● Before replacing it, check the contacts in the seat connector for scorching – that is often the real cause.

Golf II / Jetta II up to 07/1987 have two separate seat heater relays – this part does not fit there. Occasionally relay 59 is also installed in the Golf III / Vento and in the T3 with seat heating – there, be sure to compare the number on your old part.
