Function and location
The Bowden cable unlocks the sliding door lock via the outer door handle and transmits the pull from the outer handle to the lock and latching mechanism of the rear sliding door. It is only suitable for vehicles with an electrically closing sliding door.
The cable is routed in the rear sliding door between the outer handle and the lock unit. It is side-neutral and thus fits both left and right.
How can you tell a Bowden cable is defective?
- The sliding door can no longer be unlocked using the outer handle
- The handle can be pulled, but the door stays locked
- The cable feels noticeably stiff or catches when operating the handle
