How can you tell a warm-up regulator is faulty?
The warm-up regulator is part of the Bosch K-Jetronic injection system and works as a control-pressure regulator (warm-up regulator): when the engine is cold, it lowers the control pressure and thereby enriches the mixture during the warm-up phase. An electric heater adapts the regulation to the engine warming up.
If the regulator is faulty, the mixture is no longer correctly enriched during the cold-start and warm-up phase. This can show up as rough engine running or problems when starting cold.

⚠ Important: compare the part number before buying
This warm-up regulator is suitable exclusively for K-Jet naturally aspirated engines without a turbocharger. The Peugeot 505 Turbo / Turbo Injection as well as the Peugeot 505 GTI 2.2 with the ZDJ-K engine require other warm-up regulator variants, such as the 0438140104 for the 2.2-liter engine. The later L-Jetronic version of the 505 GTI does not have a warm-up regulator at all. Before buying, please compare the Bosch number on your old part exactly with the part number 0438140064 given above.
Does not fit:
- Peugeot 505 Turbo / Turbo Injection as well as Peugeot 505 GTI 2.2 (ZDJ-K engine) — require other warm-up regulator variants (e.g. 0438140104 for the 2.2 l)
- Later L-Jetronic version of the 505 GTI — here the warm-up regulator is omitted entirely
