Vehicle system and function
Control unit in relay form for the speed-dependent steering assist (Servotronic). It converts the speed signal into a control signal for the Servotronic valve on the steering box: when maneuvering, the car steers lightly, and as speed increases the steering becomes firmer.
Installation location: Relay carrier under the dashboard on the left, behind the lower trim under the steering wheel (knee height).
Condition: Used genuine part with normal signs of use on the housing (label C3 ZFLS Servotronic, ZF 7038 900 266, 5WK1 1421, UH2, 12 V). Six blade terminals, dull and slightly tarnished. There are 2 pcs with the same relay and part number available; one example is pictured – supplier and date markings may differ. Price is per piece.
How to recognize a defective part

Factory-fitted from model year 2002. Older C5 (1998–2001) have relay 392 or 605 – the 628 can be plugged in there, but provides slightly less assistance while driving (steering firmer). The eBay vehicle list includes all C5 model years.

Servotronic control units are tuned per model – 392, 605 and 613 are not 1:1 identical parts.
⚠ Only with Servotronic
Vehicles without a Servotronic steering box do not need this control unit.

- Audi A6 C6 (4F) – no relay there
- Audi A4 B6 / B7 (8E0 907 307 …)
- Audi RS6 C5 – not confirmed
