Vehicle system and function
The solenoid valve regulates how much hot coolant flows through the heater core. It is open when de-energized and is controlled by the heater controller: in the cold position it is energized and closed, in the warm position de-energized and open, and the heater then runs at full output.
Installation location: In the engine bay on the bulkhead on a bracket, in the heater water line to the heater core. On vehicles with A/C, an auxiliary water pump belongs to the same assembly.
Condition: Expertly refurbished, tested and fully functional. Price is per piece; you will receive a unit in comparable condition as pictured.
How to recognize a defective part
- ● Heater stays warm all the time or responds sluggishly to the temperature control
- ● Heat at idle, but at higher rpm the heater core goes cold (ruptured diaphragm)
- ● Coil open-circuit: the valve stays open, the heater always runs at full output
- ● Coolant loss or leak at the valve

525i, 528i, 533i, 535i, M535i, M5 and the E24 have the valve 64 11 1 373 191 with a different position of the water connections.
⚠ Complete valve
The complete valve with housing is sold, not just the valve insert 64 11 8 390 132.
⚠ Not a duo valve
The dual valve of the 7 Series E32 and 5 Series E34 is a different part.
