Vehicle system and function
The trailer connection unit detects a coupled trailer and switches its lighting via the 13-pin socket. It reports lamp failures on the trailer to the instrument cluster via the CAN bus; the rear Parktronic is switched off in trailer mode.
Installation location: In the luggage compartment behind the rear trim, mounted with a mounting tab and screws; on the W203 fused via the rear SAM.
Condition: Used genuine part, type plate fully legible (HW 4901, SW 0502). Housing and connector chambers undamaged, top with scratches and light soiling.
How to recognize a defective part

⚠ Retrofit
With a retrofitted towbar, “towbar present” must be coded in the vehicle, otherwise the Parktronic does not switch off in trailer mode.

Supersedes A 029 545 67 32 (Hella 5DS 008 102-00) and A 023 545 70 32.
⚠ Does not fit:
- C-Class W204 (own control unit A 204 900 79 05)
- CLK 280, CLK 350, CLK 220 CDI and CLK 320 CDI
