Vehicle system and function
Central relay unit K40 in the front fuse and relay box. It bundles several relay functions of the vehicle electrical system in one plug-in unit and switches, among other things, the fuel pump via an integrated 15 A fuse as well as further engine and electrical system loads that do not run directly through the fuse strip. Depending on the model, it contains relays for the fuel pump, electronic throttle (E-Gas), fanfare horn, ETS/ASR, secondary air pump and engine terminal 87, each with its own fuses. Typical failure symptoms are starting problems, fuel pump dropouts and rough engine running due to cold solder joints on the circuit board.
Installation location: Front fuse and relay box in the engine bay, behind the cover on the bulkhead. Plug-in, replaceable without tools.
Condition: Used and technically refurbished: cold or poor solder joints on the circuit board were re-soldered, defective resistors replaced, and the module then fully function-tested. Housing with age-appropriate signs of use. Housing stamping: 89 8759 000 Germany 22.02.96.
