Vehicle system and function
The combination relay controls the left and right turn signals, the hazard warning light and the alarm flashing of the anti-theft alarm system. It also handles the wiper control (interval, flick wipe, after-wipe, speed 1 and 2) and switches the rear window defroster. In the wiring diagram it is designated N10 (W140) or N10/2 (R129).
Installation location: In the fuse and relay box in the engine bay below the windshield; on the R129 under the cover behind the fuses.
Condition: Used genuine part in US version. Print on the housing: MERCEDES BENZ 140 820 76 26 [01], W.C 140/R129 USA, 05 3904 10, 12V max. 6x32cp, DOT SAE J590e/J945b 95. The housing corner at the connector field is broken off (see photos), the housing has scratches and light spots, the plug contacts are bare.
How to recognize a defective part
- ● Turn signal jumps into fast hazard flashing, the instrument lighting pulses along (often cold solder joints)
- ● Turn signal stays on permanently
- ● Interval wiper stops on the windshield
- ● Wipers or rear window defroster cannot be switched off

US version (DOT/SAE) for vehicles with US specification. Whether the relay fits EU vehicles is not documented; EU vehicles have A 140 820 71 26.
