Genuine fuel pump relay (KPR) 003 545 12 05 / KR0003 for Mercedes vehicles with KE-Jetronic.

Genuine spare part · Personally function-tested · Control electronics instead of a simple switching relay

✓ Function tested

Condition of this part

Used genuine part, personally tested and functional. The housing shows light scratches on the ribbed top and a small paint mark on one edge; the plug contacts are slightly tarnished from age. All pins are present and straight, with no breaks or cracks.

Function and location

The KPR is not a simple switching relay but a small piece of control electronics: it pre-runs the fuel pump for about 2 seconds when the ignition is switched on, keeps it active during cranking and while the engine is running, and switches it off as a safety measure when the engine is stopped. Depending on the version, this series also controls the cold start valve and the oxygen sensor heater and handles rev limiting.

The relay is installed in the control unit/electronics box in the engine bay (plenum chamber), next to the injection control units.

How can you tell if a fuel pump relay is faulty?

  • Engine doesn't start because the fuel pump doesn't run
  • Engine stalls sporadically
  • Misfires while driving
