Vehicle system and function
The valve body is the hydraulic control center of the automatic transmission. It houses the shift and control valves, which distribute the transmission fluid to the clutches and brake bands depending on modulating pressure, governor pressure and kickdown, and so shift the four gears.
Installation location: Bolted from below to the transmission case inside the oil pan; the oil distribution plate and oil filter sit on top of it. Accessible after removing the oil pan and filter.
Condition: New old stock from Mercedes, unused, shrink-wrapped in film and in the original box “Original-Teile Geprüfte Qualität”. The box shows storage and age marks; the storage label still shows the original selling price of 830,– DM.
How to recognize a defective part
- ● Harsh shifts
- ● Delayed shift points
- ● Slipping gears
