Function and location
The door control unit controls all electrical functions of its door, namely window regulator, exterior mirror adjustment, central locking, door lighting and switch block. In the driver's door, the other window switches also run through it. The CAN bus connects both units to the vehicle.
Installation location: The door control unit is located in each front door on the inside behind the door trim, behind a flap in the insulation, and is held at the top by two latching lugs. It is not on the window regulator motor.
How can you tell that a door control unit is faulty?
- Window regulator, exterior mirror and central locking of one door not working
- Door does not respond to the remote control
- Window moves up and down on its own when opening or closing the door
- Control unit clicks, turn signals and entry light flicker, especially in the cold
- Diagnosis reports no communication with the door control unit
Compatible vehicles
Early revision (HW 45/01) from the early days of the W209. Successors are A 209 820 21 26 and 19 26 on the left. Please compare the number on your own unit.

Compare the number revision – Left: A 209 820 01 26 → 21 26 → 19 26. Right: A 209 820 12 26 → 22 26, the current order number for the right side is A 209 820 20 26. The newer number supersedes the older one in each case.
Only CLK W209 – Predecessor W208 (208 820 xx 26), C-Class W203 (203 820 xx 26), SLK R171 (171 820 xx 26) and CLS C219 (219 820 xx 26) have their own door control units.
Not a Keyless-Go or convertible top module – A 209 820 09 26, 25 26 and 26 26 are Keyless-Go modules, A 209 820 00 26 and 50 26 are convertible top and roof control units.
Sold as a pair – Both units come from one vehicle and are sold together.
