Function and location
The fuel pressure damper (pulsation damper) smooths out the pressure pulsations of the fuel pump in the K-Jetronic injection system and protects the injectors from pressure spikes. It is not a system pressure regulator – a different component with a different function.
It is installed in the fuel pressure line between the fuel pump or fuel distributor and the injectors, usually mounted on a bracket in the engine bay.
How can you tell a fuel pressure damper is defective?
- Noticeable pressure pulsations or ticking in the fuel line, because they are no longer damped
- Rough, fluctuating idle due to the undamped pressure surges from the fuel pump
- The injectors are unprotected against pressure spikes and are therefore subjected to greater stress

No. The part is intended for K-Jetronic injection systems and does not fit KE-Jetronic or Motronic systems, or diesel engines.
